Treasure Hunt

The next event organised by the Social Committee will be a Treasure Hunt to be followed by a BBQ, which will be take place on Saturday 2nd May (the early May bank holiday weekend) starting from the Vicarage from 3pm. The questions will be suitable for all ages, and the clues can all be found within the confines of the 4 main streets in Berkeley (so pushchair and wheelchair friendly). So whether you have lived in Berkeley 60 years or 6 months, come and test your skills of observation! Contestants may enter as a family group, team or individually. Tickets costing £1 per head are available from Debbie Page (Tel: 01453 511168), and will include a hot dog. Bring your own drinks. Please purchase tickets in advance to help with catering.

Berkeley Annual Parochial Church Meeting
will be held in Church on Sunday 26th April at 10.00am.

We need to elect a Churchwarden and four people to join the Parochial Church Council.

Current practice within the Church of England is that members should only serve in the above positions for a limited time before 'taking a break'. The pattern of service gives stability while allowing a change of personnel.

We also need to elect an Electoral Roll Officer—who does not need to be a PCC member.

Nominations to Pam Curtis.

If you have any queries please talk to the current Churchwardens.

Reports will be ready for distribution on 19th April. If you have not submitted a copy to Pam please can you ensure 20 copies are available.

Blue Envelopes

For those that give regularly through the blue envelope scheme, please note that the new packs of envelopes for April 2009-10 can now be found on the table at the back of church. If you would like to discuss regular donations to St Mary's please contact the PCC Treasurer Denise Rayner in confidence on 01453 549182 or at denise@therayners.co.uk.

The Children's Society Quiz Evening

The Deanery Committee of the Children's Society is holding a Quiz Evening at Dryleaze Court, Wotton-under-Edge on Friday 15th May at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are £12 for a table of four and will include light refreshments of tea/coffee. Tickets and further information from Barbara Jordan (01453 810241).

Mission Giving for 2009

The following charities have been chosen for our Mission Giving for this year:
Emmaus; Gloucester City Mission; Water Aid; Mission Aviation Fellowship; The Bible Society and Tearfund.  The PCC also agreed to send a donation now to the Archbishop of Canterbury and York's Lent appeal for Zimbabwe.  A small piece about each of the charities chosen will be written in the Herald over the coming months.  If you would like a particular charity to be nominated for next year please pass your suggestion to David or Jenny Frith.
