St Mary's Newsletter

St. Mary's Newsletter 26th April

Blog readers,

Berkeley Annual Parochial Church Meeting
will follow this mornings 9.00am service of Holy Communion

The meeting will receive reports about activities within the church during the past year. We also need to elect a Churchwarden, four people to join the Parochial Church Council and an Electoral Roll Officer.

An Anniversary
Warm good wishes to Richard and Jenny Avery on the occasion of their third anniversary in our benefice.  We hope they have found their time here as enjoyable and spiritually uplifting as we have found their ministry, and we look forward to many more years of friendship and guidance.

Treasure Hunt (next Saturday)

The next event organised by the Social Committee will be a Treasure Hunt to be followed by a BBQ, which will be take place on Saturday 2nd May (the early May bank holiday weekend) starting from the Vicarage from 3pm. The questions will be suitable for all ages, and the clues can all be found within the confines of the 4 main streets in Berkeley (so pushchair and wheelchair friendly). So whether you have lived in Berkeley 60 years or 6 months, come and test your skills of observation! Contestants may enter as a family group, team or individually. Tickets costing £1 per head are available from Debbie Page (Tel: 01453 511168), and will include a hot dog. Bring your own drinks. Please purchase tickets in advance to help with catering.

The day will begin and end with a time of communal prayer, and will also include a shared lunch.
Please contact us if you would like more details – in any case pre-booking is essential. We look forward to welcoming you to our quiet space, and to share in its stillness.

The Shack by William Paul Young

Through a story about a child abduction this book gets to grips with some of the hardest questions of faith in a powerful and imaginative way. Written by a Canadian, set in the beautiful landscape of the Oregon mountains, this book has been appreciated by people of all sorts. We recommend it to you.
